A statewide strategic review into the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) was commissioned by the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist (OCP) in partnership with the Women’s and Children’s Health Network.

CAMHS provides mental health services across South Australia.

The report into this review (‘CAMHS Strategic Review Report’) will be used as a roadmap for the development of future service delivery over the short, medium, and long term.

The external review team combined the expertise of seven people who brought together professional, cultural, and lived experience. As part of their work, the review team conducted a series of consultation sessions with staff, consumers, carers, stakeholders, and partners. They considered existing CAMHS service delivery models as well as opportunities to develop best practice approaches to meet the needs for CAMHS services now and into the future.

Women’s and Children's Health Network and the Mental Health Strategy and Planning branch within the Department have produced an Interim Response to the review that will be further developed with input from staff, service users and stakeholders.

The Office thanks the team of both interstate and local reviewers who have produced this report to guide future plans for best practice services from now and over the next 5 to 10 years.
